2010 SRRC Half Marathon Training Program

Are you interested in getting in shape or staying in shape? Do you want to complete a half marathon? Are you just looking for motivation to get you through the winter? If so, SRRC is offering members a 12-week winter half-marathon training program devoted to getting you in better shape in a non-intimidating and fun environment. This winter the group will be targeting the Charlottesville half marathon on April 18th or the LAWS half marathon in Leesburg, VA on April 19th. Another option is the Frederick half marathon on May 1st.

Kick-off/Informational Meeting:   Saturday, January 16th, 11:00am, Starbucks, South Riding. Cost: $45 (must be an SRRC member – annual SRRC membership is $25)
Program Start Date:   January 18th

When you join, you receive:

Training Program: Day by day training program for a half marathon. Program based on experience level.
Coaching: Access to knowledgeable and supportive coach.
Group Runs: Supported group runs through SRRC.
Pace: Designated pace groups
• Training Tips: Hydration, strength training, nutrition, stretching, etc.
Support: As a member of SRRC you will have access to all the member benefits.
Social: A fun, friendly and non-competitive training environment with FREE post run coffee at Starbucks, group training runs, and social events for motivation, friendship and camaraderie.


SRRC runner Kathy Hoenig will coach the training program and provide feedback and advice to all participants. Kathy is an RRCA certified running coach and is certified in CPR and First Aid. She has run 5 marathons with a PR of 3:36 and is a Washington Running Report age group ranked runner.
