Lean Horse 100, Hot Springs, SD —Sat., August 25, 2007

[Report in progress. Pictures posted for now. The selection will probably change by the time the report is done. I took all these pictures in SD either just before or during the run. Temps climbed well into the 80s under unrelenting sun. Everything is tolerable for 10K or endurable for a marathon. 25 miles of dehydration out of 50 miles of running is another story . . . .

South Dakota has breathtaking scenery . . .

. . . and monuments.

And country roads on which to begin a race . . .

. . . that can be pretty flat . . .

. . . or vast . . .

. . . or even hilly . . . .

The Mickelson Trail is easy to navigate . . .

. . . has beautiful views . . .

. . . and spectators . . . .

But it can seem to stretch to infinity.
